Waukee City Council Candidate Forum — Thursday, October 23, 2025

Local leadership shapes everyday life—from public safety and parks to streets, business growth, and the long-term vision of our community. On Thursday, October 23, 2025, the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce will host a nonpartisan City Council Candidate Forum to help residents hear directly from those hoping to serve.

Who’s participating:

Kala Anderson

I’m Kala Anderson.   A Waukee resident for 11 years.  I’m a proud mother of a 2022 Waukee graduate.   I grew up of a farm with working class families.  As a young parent I had to overcome the issues with housing and childcare while working in manufacturing, before I was able to put myself through college and hone in on what I wanted to do.

As a global project manager than managed projects over 7 million a year, I have a proven record of actively listening to pain points and developing solutions that work with the budget that is available and delivering results within the deadlines.

Jon Eichhorn

I have been living in Waukee, Iowa with my wife, Anna, since 2010. We love it here! I am committed to this community and will continue to be active. Anna and I enjoy everything Waukee and the surrounding area has to offer. We are always up for an adventure and seeking new experiences. I look forward to enjoying our wonderful restaurants, music venues, parks, library, and special events.

I am a risk management professional with an entrepreneurial spirit. I am a firm believer in creating a collaborative environment, learning from one another, and doing better every day. I have had opportunities to work at world class organizations including Deloitte, Dwolla, Wells Fargo, and Crossmint. I have a broad worldview from my opportunities traveling domestically and internationally.
I am excited about the potential opportunity to represent and serve you. I will work hard to be your voice as a Waukee resident. I will listen to your thoughts, ideas, questions, and concerns. I will make decisions focused on the future and what is best for our thriving community long term. I will base my approach on the following guiding principles: communication, respect, commitment, integrity, and sound judgement.

I have always asked “why?”. This helps me really understand a particular topic in detail and think about it from various angles and perspectives. I will continue to ask “why?”.
It would be an honor to receive your vote on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. We are in this together!

Our goal is a respectful, informative evening that helps voters compare perspectives, priorities, and approaches to leading Waukee forward.

Why it matters? City Council decisions influence:

Growth & development: how and where Waukee grows, and how we welcome new employers while supporting existing businesses.

Infrastructure & mobility: streets, trails, and transportation that keep our community connected.

Public safety & services: resources that protect and serve residents.

Quality of life: parks, recreation, and amenities that make Waukee home.

In short: local elections are where your voice carries the furthest.
