Chamber Committees

All of these opportunities will enhance your presence throughout the business community and you'll have a great time getting involved!   We are confident that the Chamber can deliver results. Get involved and you will surely see a difference!  There are so many ways to participate and your membership is best leveraged when you have a presence within the Chamber.  We offer a wide variety of ways for you to do so, taking into account different budgets and schedules.  Opportunities range from advertising and sponsorships, to joining or leading a committee.

COMMITTEES OF THE WAUKEE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Every committee is comprised of Chamber member volunteers who want to give back to the community and gain exposure in the marketplace. As we plan an exciting calendar of networking & business opportunities, we encourage you and your employees to join one of our committees. You can be active on as many committees as you like based upon your interests and schedule.

Economic Development:
The Economic Development Committee works in cooperation with the City of Waukee, Waukee Chamber members and others to promote economic growth in the Waukee area.  This committee organizes the annual Waukee Economic Development Bus Tour which highlights the City of Waukee, parks & recreation, schools, businesses, land and development.

Government Affairs:
The Government Affairs Committee serves as the legislative voice of the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce membership.  This committee hosts three legislative coffees during session, stays up to date on legislative issues affecting business, participates in regional public policy meetings and events and hosts election year forums.

Membership:
The Membership Committee strives to increase membership involvement in Chamber activities and encourage businesses to join the Chamber.  This committee markets the benefits of Chamber membership to non-member businesses in the Waukee area through prospect visits and membership outreach drives.

Ambassador Program:
Waukee Chamber Ambassadors work to promote and support the role of the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce as an outreach representative.  Ambassadors attend Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies and other Chamber and community events and act as a host to our members at Chamber events and make them comfortable and facilitate networking amongst members.

Community Development:
The Community Development Committee increases membership involvement in Chamber and community activities.  This committee organizes and promotes the Chamber's Annual Dinner, What’s Cookin’ in Waukee: A Business Expo and Tasting Experience, Golf Outing, Waukee Fall Harvest and community wide events.

Scholarship:
The Scholarship Committee provides a one-time annual scholarship to a graduating senior from the Waukee High School who will be attending an Iowa institution in the fall of the year following graduation.  This committee focuses on increasing awareness of the scholarship and determining the recipient.

Board of Directors:
Nominations are accepted in September for the WACC Board of Directors. Board Directors determine policies and set goals for the organization. Directors represent the WACC members while serving a three-year term. Monthly Board meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the Waukee Chamber Board Room.
